Bayerische Motoren Werke, commonly known as BMW, has taken a significant step forward by expanding its strategic collaboration with Alibaba Group in China. This partnership will accelerate the integration of Alibaba's Qwen Language Learning Model (LLM) into BMW’s next-generation vehicles, including the innovative Neue Klasse models.

This collaboration is set to enhance AI-driven mobility, merging BMW's automotive expertise with Alibaba’s cutting-edge AI technology to provide an exceptional in-car intelligence experience specifically designed for the Chinese market.

The carmaker is working on a new intelligent personal assistant featuring improved voice recognition and trip planning capabilities, which will debut next year in new models produced in China. This in-car AI agent will offer helpful services such as parking suggestions, restaurant recommendations nearby, and real-time traffic light information.

Commenting on the alliance, BMW Brilliance CEO Dr. Franz Decker highlighted that the brand's new-generation electronic and electrical architecture will integrate AI, enhancing natural user interactions and over-the-air (OTA) capabilities.

Indeed, this AI-powered system is designed to make voice interactions feel more natural while enhancing the overall in-car mobility experience. BMW plans to showcase these groundbreaking features at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2025.
